About Me:
I am Heather Murphy, and have served as the Director of Auxiliary and Special Programs at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, PA, since 2017. SCH Academy is an independent day school serving 1200 students, from 18 months - 12th grade, with a staff of 360.
The Auxiliary Department at SCH Academy is responsible for summer programs, before and after care, enrichment, transportation, rentals, and new business development initiatives. I am especially proud of my work in building our new ECC program in 2020, and also served as the founding Executive Director of our Horizons at SCH program from 2020-2022.
Please talk to me about...HR stuff, building and leading teams, performance management, strategic planning, art and performance, continuous improvement, marketing, community building, and any creative/collaborative/inclusive practice topics.
Background:I am a lifelong Philadelphian and hold a BFA from Temple University in Dance and Performance (1995) and an MS from St. Joseph’s University (2019), along with SPHR certification from HRCI. In between degrees, I was a stunt double, line cook, and sommelier... and I founded a few for-profit and nonprofit businesses,
Baby Loves Disco and
MOXIE dance collective. In 2012, I moved into the “camp world” and education sector, following my intersecting passions for business and youth development. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, yoga, cooking, and traveling with my husband. I am also a proud parent to two young adults.
