About me
I'm building our school's auxiliary programming from the ground up--tell me everything you wish you knew when you were starting out!
I've been at Vermont Commons School for over ten years in a few different roles including front desk admin, registrar, communications, and IT. I've also directed school plays and get to take part in our experiential education excursions, called Encounter Weeks, where we pause regular classes three times a year and in multi-age groups explore the wilderness, the arts, service-based projects, and more. Most recently I've co-led trips where we biked about 140 miles of the Erie Canalway Trail, canoed in the remote Adirondack wilderness, and designed and painted the sets for our production of Mamma Mia!
I'm also a life-long summer camp person. I started attending Camp Downer (yes, that's really its name!) in Sharon, VT when I was eight and I've basically never left. I worked there for over 15 summers and continue to volunteer each year. I'm looking forward to tying in a bit more of my summer camp experience into my role at school as I get our auxiliary programming off the ground.
